A Masterclass in Muted Movement: Off-White™ SS23 Visual Campaign

The ad campaign centers on principles of design exhibited in the SS23 runway show, “Celebration.”

In a conceptually striking followup to this season’s runway show, Off-White™ is back with its Spring/Summer 2023 advertising campaign, conceived by Ib Kamara and shot by Thibaut Grevet. Rooted in the vision that guided the label’s SS23 show, “Celebration” – which paid homage to the late Virgil Abloh’s visionary design principles, while reinventing for the future – the ad campaign recalled this celebratory vision.

Playing with photographic tools such as repetition, color balance, and even photo exposure, the campaign imagery creates a stunning optical effect, playing with the viewer’s eye.

Models bring about a sense of movement in each visual; the garments coming to life with balance and delicacy. Black suits with white overstitching simulating tailor’s chalk hints to the human body that lies below, while knitted tops and skirts contour the curves and edges of limbs. We understand that movement and energy and dynamism exist here, and yet, it is muted, delicate, almost cautious.

The label’s Spring/Summer 2023 eyewear standouts, Katoka and Volcanite, bring about sculptural, enveloping chrome shades, each juxtaposing metallic and matte surfaces to bring about some form of buoyancy along their oversized frames.  Off-White™’s iconic “Spring Heel” projects three new seasonal styles – a mule sandal, bootie and high boot – each crafted with nappa and craquelé calf leather uppers.

As for the campaign’s makeup, the new multi-use Off-White™ “PAPERWORK” Imprint color stick takes center stage. Enveloped in shades like Drill, a lush burgundy, and Signal, a vibrant coral, eyes and lips create drama like no other.

The entire Off-White™ Spring/Summer 2023 collection is now available online at off—white.com, in Off-White™ stores and via select international retailers
