A Moment Of Appreciation For David Koma’s Glamour-Fueled SS22 Collection
This fluorescent collection will be the highlight of Spring 2022
The first day of London Fashion Week had some magical sights, from Nensi Dojaka to Rixo, Temperley, Halpern, however, we had not anticipated the level of high glamour David Koma’s new collection would bring.
The lineup began with a breezy take on traditional one-piece swimsuits that morphed into the designer’s signature identifiable partywear, which moved to a series of ultra-glitz, gowns, feathers, sequins and marabou details. This blend of athleticism and old Hollywood pin-up glamour was a real feast for the eyes with a day event at the Aquatics Center that involved a show, plus an entire filming day where guests could drop by. “This way I can get the best footage, enjoy the experience, and everyone can come in and get a taste of the behind-the-scenes action. We all need a bit of high-speed action and a reason to celebrate,” mentioned the designer.
Models shimmered as they strutted down the dim-lit swimming pool runway in bright sheer tones of neon yellow dresses, topped off with outrageously beautiful feather necklines, micro-sequin shirts, pants and splashes of fuchsia bralettes. Let us not forget, the glam team mastered a look that made getting caught in the rain appear extra chic.
“The business has grown, and we’ve exceeded revenue expectations during the pandemic,” said Koma. “Luckily, for me, my customers believed they’d be going out-out soon, or they just wanted to look incredible at home!” All in all, we can safely say the industry celebrated the return of catwalks, after many seasons worth of Covid restrictions, and designers such as David Koma were quick to make up for lost time.
