Messika took a futuristic approach to the jewelry designs while incorporating Ancient Egyptian influence. Artistic director Valérie Messika featured the crème de la crème of models to celebrate her second collection. Renowned models included it-girl Gigi Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski, Nina Dobrev, and supermodel Naomi Campbell all graced the catwalk.
Naomi Campbell closed the show, the statuesque supermodel and icon sported a tailored black pantsuit, drawing eyes to her neck and decolletage where a necklace of 2,550 diamonds hung. The necklace totals an impressive 71.49 carats. The diamonds were sourced from a single 110-carat stone and are the featured piece in the “Akh-Ba-Ka” collection. The show-stopping diamond necklace is arrangement of splayed wings around a single large diamond, clearly referencing the winged scarab iconography used in ancient Egyptian jewelry to symbolize rebirth and renewal of life. The ultra-chic show has us racking our brains for an excuse to add a little sparkle to our wardrobes.
