A Night of High Jewelry with Messika
Parisian high jewelry brand Messika shows off their sexy, modern collection of diamond jewelry.
Paris Fashion week may be best known for its clothes but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for accessories to shine. The shiniest and most decadent of accessories were on display last night as the focal point of an intimate and exclusive Paris fashion show all about diamonds. The high jewelry show entitled “Beyond the Lights’ given by Parisian Jewelry house Messika was attended by international celebrities and high jewelry connoisseurs alike, including the likes of Alison Toby, Juana Acosta, Lojain Omran, and Mai Omar.
The show itself consisted of 29 looks adorned with diamond pieces. Elements included mouth jewelry, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and chest pieces were. The elegant, hypnotic jeweled pieces were styled in a modern, edgy way, juxtaposing the luxury pieces with streetwear. Adidas sneakers, sports socks, and activewear paired with the diamond jewelry resulting in a youthful display of energy.
Messika took a futuristic approach to the jewelry designs while incorporating Ancient Egyptian influence. Artistic director Valérie Messika featured the crème de la crème of models to celebrate her second collection. Renowned models included it-girl Gigi Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski, Nina Dobrev, and supermodel Naomi Campbell all graced the catwalk.
Naomi Campbell closed the show, the statuesque supermodel and icon sported a tailored black pantsuit, drawing eyes to her neck and decolletage where a necklace of 2,550 diamonds hung. The necklace totals an impressive 71.49 carats. The diamonds were sourced from a single 110-carat stone and are the featured piece in the “Akh-Ba-Ka” collection. The show-stopping diamond necklace is arrangement of splayed wings around a single large diamond, clearly referencing the winged scarab iconography used in ancient Egyptian jewelry to symbolize rebirth and renewal of life. The ultra-chic show has us racking our brains for an excuse to add a little sparkle to our wardrobes.
