British actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s interest was piqued when his father introduced him to OMEGA. “He was working class and saved his earnings to purchase an OMEGA watch,” Taylor-Johnson tells the brand. Little did adolescent Aaron know that he would one day have his own OMEGA (a Speedmaster First OMEGA in Space on a brown leather strap, to be exact) and rep the name too.

The 28 Days Later star was recently appointed as an OMEGA global ambassador, joining a number of notable names including George Clooney, Nicole Kidman, Eddie Redmayne, Naomie Harris, and Daniel Craig. The partnership, which was celebrated at OMEGA’s headquarters in Biel Switzerland, comes as a welcome reminder of Taylor-Johnson’s commanding screen presence and the mechanical ingenuity of an OMEGA watch.

At the luxury brand’s HQ, Taylor-Johnson toured the watchmaking facilities and heritage museum, exploring the technological intricacies and the unique history that set OMEGA apart with a keen (and oh so piercing) eye. 

“Aaron is such a versatile actor, with a range that covers action, thriller, romance and much more,” says President and CEO of OMEGA, Raynald Aeschlimann. “At OMEGA, we’ve always been impressed by that all-around quality, and his pioneering approach to so many roles.”

Taylor-Johnson, who began his career at the ripe age of ten, snagged leading roles in Shanghai Knights and Angus Thongs and Perfect Snogging, before introducing his breakout portrayal of John Lennon in Nowhere Boy. And if you watched the bewildering fever dream that was Nocturnal Animals, you’ll recognize him as the serial killer responsible for a spiralling Jake Gyllenhaal’s demise.
