Inspired by the affluent 1930s woman who would once wrap herself in mink furs and smoke a skinny cigarette, creative visionary Anna Sui’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection is a homage to the reckless nature of an heiress.

The Anna Sui woman always exudes an eccentric opulence, but in the case of the collection’s namesake “Madcap Heiress,” her personal style is more influenced by an exorbitant inheritance and an all-powerful god complex. Sui aptly presented her new line in the elegant Victorian setting of the National Arts Club in New York City and featured 28 looks.

Never one to take the mundane approach, Sui took inspiration from the tastes of real-life heiresses Barbara Hutton and Peggy Guggenheim, while maintaining the brand’s consistent niche in mixing and matching an abundance of patterns. An escape from today’s trending minimalism, tweeds, fur trim, and gargantuan cat-eye sunglasses bring the heiress character to life on the runway.

Young creatives and members of Gen Z, including Clara Perlmutter, Blondshell, Claire Sullivan, and Sui’s niece Chase Sui Wonders, all came out to the National Arts Club for the runway show. Additionally, long-time friends of the brand like Sofia Coppola, Debbie Harry, Lynn Yaeger, and Zac Posen were in attendance.

Sui collaborated with Erickson Beamon and John Fleuvog on jewelry and footwear, respectively. Beaumon designed the collection’s jewels to look simultaneously glamorous and garish, coming in simple shapes and bold color palettes. Custom sneakers, signature Anna Sui Mary Janes, and even a knee-high leopard print boot styled with micro shorts all complimented the collection’s dramatics perfectly.

Amidst the collection’s maximalism, Sui doesn’t forget her references. Hutton is cited throughout the collection through her favorite color, jade, and a plethora of chunky statement necklaces. But even as these reincarnated looks walk the runway, Sui still adds a few twists of her own to bear in mind the subjectivity of wealth. The Anna Sui runway archive is referenced through classic chevrons, exuberant millinery, and flower motifs.
