Twenty years ago, Acne Studios launched Acne Paper, a collection of writings, editorials, and images surrounding a chosen theme. This year, for their 20th anniversary, they released Issue 20: Golden, inspired by their journey throughout the last two decades of editorial work.

In their golden hour, this year’s 20th anniversary edition is a retrospective of their work. This Midas touch of a concept pairs perfectly with highlighting the brand’s history as well as its ideals for the future.
The theme Golden is not just about the metal, although the cover features Raya Martigny, photographed by Szilveszter Makó, painted in gold. Golden is more of an ode to their throughline, whether it be as a material or metal, throughout their written and visual editorials. In uncertain times, Acne Paper turns to the concept of gold as a light, celebrating a shared human history shaped by warmth and hope.

The issue features the writing, photos, and works of Sarah Moon, Patti Wilson, Leslie Zhang, Audrey Hu, Rafael Pavarotti, George Krakowiak, Julia Hetta, and many other stylists, editors, and writers. Together, these contributors, both industry masters and emerging talents, put their vision into the shared theme, speaking about transformation and power, reflecting Acne Studios’s history and the current worldwide climate.

Golden is an acclamation of decades of work by the brand and its contributors. At a pivotal time in society, it is important for creative people to come together on a shared concept. By reflecting on the past, Acne Paper reframes the future as something more hopeful, a golden age yet to come.
Acne Paper Issue 20: Golden will be available on June 4th in stores and at acnestudios.com.
