Acne Studios Fall/Winter 2025 collection is a theatrical display of duality—a coherent interplay between nature and city, nostalgia and contemporality, restraint and expression. Creative Director and Co-founder Jonny Joansson’s Nordic roots become exposed within this collection as he crafts a wardrobe for women entrenched in the raw landscapes of the North and the relentless chaos of urban life.

The collection’s palette bowed its head to both past and present, with warm earth tones of brown, oat, and honey juxtaposed against deep 1970s reverberations of Bordeaux red, purple, and flashes of gold. Patterns toyed with illusions: polka dots morphing into teddy bears, graphic plaids, 3D elements, and warped prints.

The silhouettes are a balancing act between structure and malleability. Outerwear and tailoring advertised rounded sleeves and exaggerated shoulders, echoing power dressing, drunk with fluidity and ease. Liquidlike in motion, the collection’s dresses casually draped over model’s figures and legs took center stage in shorter hems, thigh-high slits, and second-skin stockings; both incorporating an ingredient of sensuality.

Fabrications deepened the narrative. The recurring leather garments are both smooth and warped, mimicking the unpredictability of the natural world. Shearling and faux fur provoke childhood stuffed animal nostalgia, and flocked denim appears frozen in time. Transparency played with perception, as airy, bais-cut fabrics incorporate delicacy into the picture.

The accessories that accompanied the garments performed with convention. Felt boots inspired by soft toys contrasted with peep-toe pumps clinched in warped leather. The bags on the runway were the supersized Camero Hotel and the Multipocket bucket.

The runway design was interlaced with ribbons of futuristic cityscapes and sculptural elements inspired by Swedish nature. The set design contrasted beautifully with the many stand-out garments—some of V’s favorites were the low-hanging cowlneck button-up one-piece jumper and the oversized round-shoulder blazers.

Acne Studios’ FW25 collection is not only about clothing but a visual script of living between two worlds and encompassing both—it’s a collection for the modern woman who refuses to be defined by just one—city or nature.
