British designer Stella McCartney has just released a new campaign featuring award-winning actress Sarah Snook. In the campaign’s visuals, the Succession star models the brand’s new it bag: the Stella Ryder. With the launch of its new vegan bag, which is crafted in Italy and made from “recycled and grape-based leather alternatives”,  the brand’s commitment to animal protection and rights remains at the forefront of its mission.

The brand debuted the Stella Ryder at its Summer 2025 Paris runway show in September. Seen on the arms of actress Natalie Portman, director Greta Gerwig and model Natalia Vodianova, the bag’s curved outline is inspired by the outline of a horse, which is McCartney’s favorite animal.

“The Stella Ryder builds on the cruelty-free cachet of McCartney’s iconic Falabella bag, which paved the way for vegan luxury bags in 2009,” the brand notes in a statement. In true McCartney style, the designer is leveling up the craftsmanship of her pieces, as the hand-sculpted carryall is made in Italy from recycled and grape-based leather alternatives, and crafted to mirror the shape of a horse’s nape and back.

In conversation with Snook, who is set to star in The Picture of Dorian Gray once again when it hits Broadway in New York City next year, the brand chatted with the actress about her love of horses and their importance in connecting us to the planet. “I love horses. I think they’re such glorious, beautiful, elegant animals. They’ve got so much power and strength and yet softness and femininity,” she explains to the brand’s its second edition of the Stella Times. “My favourite book when I was growing up was ‘The Silver Brumby’ – part of that story was about this character of the lead horse running around the hills, and just being wild and free.”

The Stella Ryder bag has a shoulder and a crossbody option. The shoulder bag is available in “Black” and “Brandy” and the crossbody is also available in those two colors plus “Camel.”

The Stella Ryder bag is now available on the stellamccartney.com.
