Adidas and Yohji Yamamoto Drop Y-3 Shiku Run
The shoe combines performance and avante-garde aesthetics.
Adidas and Yohji Yamamoto expand their Y-3’s Fall/Winter 2020 collection by adding the August released Y-3 Shiku Run. Partnering on the curation of the Y-3 Shiku Run, the shoe reflects Adidas’ attention to performance wear and Yohji Yamamoto’s experimental aesthetics.
The Y-3 Shiku Run is double layered in transparent mesh, but also incorporates suede and leather into the overall design. Adidas’ iconic three stripe logo makes an appearance in the shoe’s transparent mesh while Y-3 branding sits on the shoe’s tongue. Hints of Yohji Yamamoto design are displayed around the shoe by a thin wrap-around draping chord system.
“Taking inspiration from adidas’ collection of performance running silhouettes, the midsole employs EVA foam for enhanced lightweight cushioning and a rubber outsole for superior road grip,” Adidas said in a statement.
Adidas and Yohji Yamamoto’s Y-3 Shiku Run arrives in three distinct color designs. The darkest shoe is an ode to Yohji Yamamoto’s traditional color palette as it is surrounded in black with shades of gray and white. Second in the color line is the white Y-3 Shiku Run which incorporates some black trimming. A colorful and brighter shoe is also available with a red draping chord.
The Y-3 line is known for incorporating Japanese culture into shoes, shirts and accessories. Heading the line, Addias’ infused traditional elements with sporty streetwear vibes. Most recently, Y-3 introduced a sleek bomber jacket, the Yohji Pro, Yohji Star and an array of caps and belts.
The Y-3 Shiku Run is available globally on Adidas’ website and in select retailers.
