John Hardy is known for offering luxury with a dash of high-minded Eastern traditions, but at the launch party for its new collection with model Adwoa Aboah last night, the Bali-bred jewelry brand delivered its most eclectic mix to date. Appointed in palm fronds and neon, the space reflected a fusion of John Hardy’s high-wattage luxury and Aboah’s youthful magnetism.

Known for her natural, edgy beauty, Aboah first joined forces with the hardware brand for its Fall 2017 Made for Legends campaign. The AA x JH collection, available starting this month at select retailers and at JohnHardy.com, marks her first jewelry collection—a glitzy collision of reclaimed precious metals, rose quartz, black tourmaline and more.

The guests, who sipped beverages like fresh coconut water and so-called “jungle juice,” were an amalgam in themselves; everyone from Jenna Lyons to rapper Young Paris to DJ Alice Gao were there to toast Aboah, more regal than ever in her back-draped chains.

While the evening was rich in visual stimuli (pausing at one point for an Indonesian dance number), the collection itself is equally loaded in symbolism: Inspired by her own grandmother’s tradition of passing down a signet ring, Aboah says she created her pieces with Gurls Talk, her female empowerment platform, in mind: “When designing [this jewelry], I envisioned all the girls I love: my friends, my mum, my sisters, my tribe.”
