Alaina Castillo Drops Video For New Single “¡párate!”
Check out this rising star’s new Spanish single.
This one is for the e-girls. Bilingual singer Alaina Castillo dropped the video for her new, Spanish single “¡párate!” yesterday, featuring flip phones, polaroid pics, and long, fiery-red acrylics.
“Párate,” in English, translates to “stand up,” a fitting title for this dance track. It’s the follow-up to Castillo’s antisocial anthem “tonight,” and comes ahead of her Dia De Los Muertos livestream on Nov. 2. “¡párate!” acknowledges Castillo’s Latin roots while still staying firmly planted in her bedroom pop aesthetic. Smooth verses are cut off suddenly into the pounding chorus, “párate, párate, párate.”
Speaking about the video, Alaina said, “‘¡párate!’ is a song that talks about overcoming challenges that you would usually want to avoid…I wanted [the music video] to have a dark feel to it, as if you’re struggling in those moments of the song, but then also incorporate little essences of beauty to remind us that we have to go through those dark moments in order to really appreciate any small amount of happiness or beauty we can get.”
