The growingly popular fashion brand ALÉMAIS has officially gone from “down under” (being Australian and all) to all over, with a footprint now extending from Sydney to the souks of Marrakech.

Having already established a dedicated following of loyal enthusiasts, the clothing—designed by Creative Director Leslie Jermanus—ALÉMAIS made its international runway debut on Tuesday, May 20th, showcasing a resort 2026 collection made alongside multi-disciplinary artist Laurence Leenaert. With its vivid colors and sensory allure, Marrakesh, long a source of inspiration for the brand, offered a strikingly personal setting for the presentation.

About working with Leenaert, Jermanus says, “I was obsessed with one of her blankets—I had to have it. I dreamt about it. I didn’t know her, but I remember emailing the team a lot. Then I went to the market to try and meet her husband to do this exchange, and serendipitously, he was like, ‘I think you need to meet this girl, Laurence.’ So she came, and what started as an exchange became this eight-year friendship.”

As mentioned in the show notes, the clothing channeled “the spirit of the Moroccan landscapes,” mirroring “the city itself: earthy, raw, vibrant, and sun-drenched.”

Of course, doing the show halfway around the world from the brand’s home base came with its own challenges, which Jermanus was ready to tackle. You’ve got to do things that scare you a little—otherwise, you stay in this safe space that never pushes you,” she says. “You won’t learn anything new. And any community you create won’t expand either.”

The new collection featured the brand’s famously fun motifs, imaginative silhouettes, and outfits that blew elegantly in the desert winds, adorning local and international models and transforming them into chic, carefree characters enjoying a holiday under the Moroccan sun.
