After 17 years, this iconic show is back with girls’ life in their 50s

“I couldn’t help but wonder… where are they now?” Sarah Jessica Parker, who played Carrie Bradshaw in the iconic TV show Sex and The City, wrote in Carrie’s classic style and shared a video clip on Instagram on January 10, 2021. The video clip, featuring New York landscapes and scenes, was shared by Kristin Davis (Charlotte) and Cynthia Nixon (Miranda) as well.

The cast’s IG posts confirmed one thing: Sex and The City is back. It is exciting for SATC fans – after 17 years, the show is back. The reboot, titled “And Just Like That,” will be a 10-episode limited series on HBO MAX. The release date is unknown, but taking place in NYC, the production will start in the summer of 2021.

The revival will center on a more complicated life and friendship in the girls’ 50s. Chris Noth and John Corbett will return as Mr. Big and Aiden. But, Samantha’s fans, we’re sorry to tell you that Kim Cattrall won’t return to the show. In fan’s eyes, regardless of age, Samantha is forever sex-positive and clear-headed. However, years back, Cattrall said she wouldn’t play Samantha anymore because she was too old for the part. HBO MAX said the absence reflects the actual stage of life, in which old friends drift apart and new friends come into your life.

In the light of new friends, the writers are expanding the girls’ social circles to a more diversified level. According to TVLine’s exclusive reports, three women of color are joining the cast. Though HBO hasn’t confirmed yet, HBO’s Chief Content Officer Casey Bloys expressed the idea of making the show more reflective of “New York City” – the byword of diversity.

Aired on HBO from 1998 to 2004, followed by two movies in 2008 and 2010, this show is an inspiration of fashion, love and relationships for millions of audiences. Vivid characters in the show have enlightened New York City – their stories have made NYC a dreamland.
