All We Know About the 2019 Baby2Baby Gala

This year’s gala raised over $4.7 million for children in need.

On Saturday night at the 3Labs event space in Culver City, the foundation Baby2Baby hosted an opulent gala raising over $4.7 million dollars.

The L.A. based charity seeks to provide families under the poverty line with a range of necessities such as diapers, backpacks, school uniforms, and much more. It was started eight years ago by co-presidents Kelly Sawyer Patricof and Norah Weinstein and has utilized their web of celebrity friends to promote their mission.

The board members include Jessica Alba, Kelly Rowland, Rachel Zoe, Nicole Richie, and Julie Bowen. However, this year was especially exciting as Meghan Markle partnered with the charity marking it as one of her American partner charities.

During the cocktail hour, over $370,000 was raised based on several high-end purchases at a silent auction. Following the auction was a performance by Paula Abdul and an abundance of deliciously iconic foods provided by Sugarfish, Burritos La Palma, Son of a Gun, Majordomo.

Chrissy Teigen’s support for the charity was recognized as she was the 2019 recipient of the Giving Tree Award. The award recognizes a “celebrity mother who embodies the Baby2Baby mission,” according to their website. That evening, she and her husband, John Legend, each contributed $50,000.

While this event was major and generated a sizeable amount of fundraising, it’s important to acknowledge the work the charity does all year round. Throughout the years they have been able to donate “70 million items to children in homeless shelters, domestic violence programs, foster care, hospitals, and underserved schools as well as children who have lost everything in the wake of disaster,” according to their website.
