From the opening look to the final passage, Altuzarra’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection unfolds as a story. A narrative born of Casa Susanna, the private retreat immortalized in photographs from the 1950s and ‘60s, where men gathered to dress as women. Within those fleeting moments, clothing offered something more than transformation, it offered the freedom to inhabit a version of oneself that was wholly authentic and entirely unimpeded.

Presented in the lobby of New York’s Woolworth Building, the collection mirrored the gradual act of becoming. It began with the familiar codes of masculinity: classic menswear, utilitarian worker jackets, and bomber silhouettes, rendered in intentionally faded, washed-out hues. Leather looked weathered and lived in, softened and curled with wear, as though carrying a history of its own. 

As the presentation continued, boundaries began to blur. Harder materials dissolved into satin, crepe de chine and chiffon. Embroidery delicately wove around dresses and skirts, its intricate detailing recalling the intimacy of lingerie. 

Americana lingered throughout, expressed through faded prints and distressed finishes that lended the collection to a distinctly bohemian ease. 

Hues of deep reds, royal blues, acid yellows and vivid pinks were set in contrast with the neutrals and traditional menswear browns. Glamour began to seep through the seams. By the final looks, there was nothing left to conceal. Dresses, tops and skirts appeared torn open, their linings exposed. The garments, it seemed, had begun to shed their former identities. 

What once simmered beneath the surface, had finally emerged. Altuzarra’s Spring/Summer 2027 is not merely a collection, but a meditation on clothing as a vehicle for self-discovery. It is a gradual dissolution of convention.
