Aminé’s New Album ‘Limbo’ Dropped Today
After teasing the album with three previously released singles from it, the rapper finally set forth his newest body of work.
Aminé—the Portland-bred rapper, artist, and director who began to see popularity after his chart-topping track “Caroline”—dropped his second full-length album Limbo on Friday via Republic Records. The album was highly anticipated since Aminé began releasing singles from it, including “Shimmy“, “Riri“, and “Compensating” which featured Young Thug and was accompanied by a music video that came out earlier this week.
Limbo was three years in the making and co-produced alongside Pasqué as other artists heard on the album are JID, Summer Walker, Vince Staples, Slowthai, Injury Reserve, and Charlie Wilson. Using the voice of friend and writer/comedian Jak Knight, the album is introduced with “Burden” by Knight saying “This is some shit you go and pick your homie up from jail with.”
From there, Aminé’s West Coast style of hip-hop and illustrative storytelling make up the vast majority of Limbo, only veering during tracks like “Kobe”, an emotional spoken word interlude about the passing of Kobe Bryant, and “My Reality”, the finale that’s comprised of a soulful choir and heavenly strings.
