In the wake of the polarizing and contentious hearing for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh last week, hundreds upon hundreds of Americans have taken to protesting in D.C in order to have their opinions heard. Taking a stand, over 300 protesters, including Amy Schumer and Emily Ratajkowski, were arrested on Thursday afternoon during the demonstration.
While Schumer has yet to make any official statements on the matter, Ratajkowski took to social media to tell her followers of her arrest through a tweet accompanied by a photo of herself at the protests.
Today I was arrested protesting the Supreme Court nomination of Brett Kavanaugh, a man who has been accused by multiple women of sexual assault. Men who hurt women can no longer be placed in positions of power. pic.twitter.com/nnwq1O4qk3

Following Kavanaugh’s nomination and subsequent hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee, the judge has come under intense scrutiny not only from the American public, but from international watchers as well. Groups like The Women’s March, the organization that created in opposition to President Donald Trump, were notably present at the protests on Thursday.
While lawmakers review the FBI report on the alleged sexual assault of Christine Blasey Ford, sadly only time will tell as to how the committee will rule on the disgraced judge’s nomination.
