An Alchemy Of Viewpoints: Bottega Veneta Winter 22′ Campaign
From photographers and cinematographers to models, Matthieu Blazy spotlights an unscripted sense of seeing.
Conceptualized by Bottega Veneta’s creative director Matthieu Blazy, his debut Winter 22 campaign sanctions the alchemy of a diversity of viewpoints – from photographers and cinematographers to models. Within these confines, Blazy’s ‘foundation collection’ initiates its journey from backstage, at San Fedele in Milan, moving on to the Horst Festival in Belgium, returning once more to Italy, ending on the southern coast. Spotlighting Blazy’s notions of craft in motion, this campaign enlivens the quiet power to life in 41 still and moving (mostly film) images.
A cross-generational cast that wore the collection on the runway continued to flaunt it throughout the campaign locations. By utilizing and setting fire to the abilities of several young image-makers – who had never shot fashion before – and established photographers and cinematographers, each individual provoked a fresh and unscripted sense of seeing to the collection.
Expanding over weeks rather than days, each photographer and model sparked a sense of reciprocity throughout the project, each translating their own experiences, movements, and stories to Bottega Veneta’s clothing and accessories. Utilizing a transition from playful and pragmatic, from present intimacy to the carefully constructed, an exploration of the space between the creation and the capturing of a moment together is exuberated within the alchemical possibilities of collective viewpoints.
“Bottega Veneta was created by a collective of artisans. This is the history, and this is how we approached the campaign: together, with many different ways of seeing.” – Matthieu Blazy.
