Simplicity is at the heart of Pieter Mulier’s newest vision for Alaïa, building upon the label’s longstanding dedication to architectural shapes. A hallmark first introduced by Azzedine Alaïa himself, who made his mark in the 1980s with sculptural designs that honored the feminine form. Since stepping in as creative director in 2021, Belgian-born Pieter Mulier has continued the founder’s legacy while giving it a contemporary edge.

Shot by Tyrone Lebon, the campaign situates Daria Werbowy in a minimalist Miami setting. She wears a meticulously contoured white gown with sculptural cutouts along the bodice and torso—an homage to Alaïa’s founding design ethos. Translucent and solid panels flow into a fluid silhouette, accentuating Werbowy’s shape as much as they are defined by it.

“Daria is the perfect extension of the show at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. With her powerful sensuality that emanates effortlessly, she embodies this collection like no one else. She is the ultimate woman,” says Pieter Mulier.

The bright backdrop and angular shadows evoke a sense of architectural harmony—much like Frank Lloyd Wright’s emphasis on open space and proportion—spotlighting every nuanced detail of the dress. By stripping away superfluous elements, the interplay of sunlight, shadow, and the model’s own presence transforms the setting into an almost gallery-like space.

Instead of forcing a narrative onto the model, the campaign underlines that genuine sensuality doesn’t hinge on extravagance; it’s revealed through a harmony of line and movement. Daria’s quiet magnetism underscores what is left of this: a timeless dialogue between a woman and garment.
