Glitchy, monochromatic visuals open Andre 3000’s latest video for his song, “Something is Happening And I May Not Fully Understand But I’m Happy.” The 26-minute music video is a contribution to a larger work entitled “TRANƧA” produced by Red Hot, the activist and non-profit group. Released last year, “TRANƧA” is a concept album highlighting transgender awareness and featuring the works of over 100 artists.

The video for “Something is Happening And I May Not Fully Understand But I’m Happy” is inspired by Édouard Glissant’s book, Poetic Intention. The video’s trippy nature and theme of evolution echo the ambient sounds of the track. The song’s “mystical chatter and unfolding ceremony become a new kind of language—a tongue for hearing,” according to Grandstand Media. In addition to Andre 3000, the track features the work of multiple artists, including Carlos Niño, Deantoni Parks, Nate Mercereau, Shabaka, and others.
For Andre 3000 (or through the eyes of his fans), a reinvention emerged through the release of New Blue Sun in November 2023. While the flute makes an appearance in his newest release, it doesn’t take center stage in the way it did throughout that album of rebirth. Andre 3000 continues to embrace lengthy song titles. Through this track, he continues to compose without bars revealing his new approach and granting himself permission to evolve.
