Angèle Rocks An Exclusive CHANEL Wardrobe

The pop-star collaborated with CHANEL’s creative director on exclusive outfits and accessories for her upcoming tour

It’s a major year for Belgian pop star Angèle: she performed at Madison Square Garden with Dua Lipa last month, is opening for her at London’s O2 in May, and kicks off her own headlining tour the very next day. Named after her second album, released in December 2021, Angèle’s Nonante-Cinq tour features exclusive Chanel designs by creative director Virgine Viard.

The collaboration marks Viard’s first time creating custom stage wear for a musical artist. An ambassador for the French fashion house since 2020 and the face of Chanel’s 2021 Eye Makeup Collection, Angèle drew inspiration from the Chanel Spring-Summer 1995 Ready-to-Wear collection. “I knew I wanted to wear Chanel on stage, but I was looking for something that had a link with the album, and my date of birth,” the singer said. “The 1995 collection really inspired me, it’s consistent with my style, my desires around the project, and I started by wearing this collection for the album promo since December.”

The pop-star combines pop, rap and electro in music with original lyrics and sound, and encompasses a spokeswoman for her generation. For her upcoming tour, a dozen looks were created, each with a meticulous eye for detail and wearability. Tweed combines with sequins, and accessories including boots and sunglasses adorn cropped sets with a vintage feel.

“I wanted to showcase what Virginie gives me and has done for me: it was a genuine collaboration, which made it a very human experience and an incredible adventure,” Angèle said.

Her Nonante-Cinqopens on May 4 in Zénith, France, taking her through summer music festivals before culminating in her hometown of Brussels, Belgium at the end of the year. The tour is set to continue in Canada in April 2023.
