Following the premiere of Netflix’s Larissa: The Other Side of Anitta—a documentary revealing an intimate perspective on Anitta’s life and the challenges it brings—comes the release of the global pop star’s newest single, Larissa.
Her most recent hit is a vulnerable ballad, a passionate song to a mysterious antagonist, a lover. Translated from Spanish, Anitta sings, “You act like a crazy person / You don’t realize / But it’s so obvious / That you see me, that you look at me,” painting the nuance of a relationship between two people who feel authentically unafraid when they are together.

For her fanbase, Larissa is an introduction to the singer’s fragility as her listeners are most familiar with her Brazilian funk and Latin pop-filled discography—such as her album Funk Generation, which earned her a GRAMMY nomination for Best Latin Pop Album.
“My music has always been about strength, right? Mainly feminine strength. But, talking about this track and also the film, I feel like I discovered a new type of strength by allowing myself to be fragile, to fail, and to make mistakes,” Anitta says. “Larissa wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for this process, in which Larissa became more and more comfortable to be seen.”
The song first debuted in the Netflix documentary, later being played on the Bloco da Anitta electric trio in Rio de Janeiro to a crowd of 1.1 million people.
