Every once in awhile, a movie will come along that will inspire us to challenge tired narratives and look at the world around us in a new light. Art imitates life. As we push ourselves to broaden our horizons in the entertainment world, visionaries like Chadwick Boseman leave their mark on this world as fearless icons unafraid to inspire others. Entrepreneur, activist, influencer, and humanitarian Anmol Singh has made it a point to positively impact the lives of others and maintains that Boseman’s Black Panther is a movie that has not only pushed boundaries but inspired an entire generation.
Born in Delhi, India, Anmol’s story is unconventional. After trading in the stock market during his time at University, Anmol not only excelled in academics, but he quickly found success in the financial sector, continuously profiting from trading in a short period of time. “This experience taught me that the only limitations we have are the ones we put on ourselves,” explains Anmol. “I learned at a young age that the universal truths we are all taught are merely a fallacy. They are meant to be challenged.” Anmol would continue to launch LiveTraders.com.
In looking at Boseman’s Black Panther, Anmol sees how the storyline inspires those who feel that power and success might be out of their reach. “What Boseman did with Black Panther by assembling an all-black cast with a black superhero is bring inclusivity front-and-center proving that there is tremendous power in community,” explains Anmol. “Diversity and representation matter, and by bringing that onscreen with Black Panther, it made us all look to where we need to increase diversity in our own lives.”
Comparing Wakanda, the fictional country center in the movie and home to Black Panther, to his own experiences with stigma and greed in the financial industry, Anmol explains that the movie motivated him to look at our world’s resources differently. “The truth is there is more than enough to go around, but as a society are we going to continue to allow greed to hold us hostage?” states Anmol. “It makes me each other we all have a responsibility to save each other from the system.”
As the tributes for Chadwick Boseman pour in following his death, Anmol finds solace in knowing that his legacy will continue for generations. “Like millions of others, Black Panther pushed me to consider what diversity, inclusion, and representation mean for this world,” says Anmol. “It is a movie that stokes political fires questioning the direction our world is going.” By confronting themes around violence and resources, Black Panther has cemented its status as one of the most thought-provoking films of our time.
