Ariana Grande Joining “The Voice” as a New Coach

She’ll be replacing Nick Jonas on the fourth chair for the show’s twenty first season

The judges’ chairs on NBC’s “The Voice” has made another change, and this time joining their mix is…Ariana Grande! Grande announced on social media that she’d be joining the singing competition show as a new coach.

This is Grande’s first time being associated with the show in any form of coaching capacity, having never appeared as a guest coach or mentor in the past. She’ll be replacing rotating judge Nick Jonas for the upcoming season, the show’s 21st season. “surprise !!! i am beyond thrilled, honored, excited” she wrote on social media as she shared the news.

Grande will be joining Blake Shelton, a judge on the show since its inception, John Legend, and Kelly Clarkson, who will be judging together as a trio for their sixth season. Grande definitely represents a major celebrity get for the show, still running on the high of her fifth number one album, Positions, and one of the most followed individuals in the world on social media.

Shelton is the only judge to have remained on the show since its inception, with Adam Levine’s 16 season run coming in as runner-up. Several of the other judges, like Gwen Stefani and Jonas himself, have had more rotational runs, staying for a season at a time and returning later. What remains to be seen is how long Grande’s stint on the show will be for and whether she’ll consistently stay or be switching up her positions from time to time.

The current season of “The Voice” is still airing on NBC and in the middle of the battle rounds.
