Few Hollywood starlets have had the lasting style legacy that Audrey Hepburn has had; her elegance, chic looks, and classic taste remains timeless. Later this month, Christie's is set to hold an exhibit and major auction on a number of Hepburn's famous ensembles and personal belongings ranging from annotated movie scripts to accessories, beginning online on Sept. 19 with a live auction on Sept. 27.

According to WWD, the auction features many notable pieces from the late-actress like a decadent, sequined Valentino top, and various pieces Hepburn wore from her longtime friend and frequent collaborator Hubert de Givenchy like the couture gown from Charade, as well as cocktail dresses from her personal closet.

“What she wore on stage, she wore off stage as well," said Pat Frost, international textile and fashion specialist at Christie's. "She didn’t have different wardrobes. I think she was one of the first film starts to do that — usually an actress has her costumes and her private wardrobe, whereas for her it had always been the same thing."

Frost explained Hepburn's loyalty to designers and specific styles can be seen through her wardrobe and the pieces available for auction. "When she found a style that she liked, she would just carry on buying it," said Frost of trends like the Breakfast at Tiffany's star's many ballet flats worn out of self-consciousness of the size of her feet and several fashion house staples (A-line coats from Valentino, gowns by Givenchy, loafers from Salvatore Ferragamo, and more).

Because Hepburn's on-screen/off-screen style is unlike any other and stands the test of the time, V takes a look at some of Hepburn's classic Givenchy film looks in anticipation for the upcoming Christie's auction.
