Swedish lifestyle label Axel Arigato and British luxury brand Mulberry have just released an exclusive collection to spice up your spring closet. The capsule comes as a result of the blending of their shared values of community and engagement, and their attention to the demands of our contemporary culture. The partnership isn’t surprising. Axel Arigato co-founder Albin Johansson pointed out the success that the Sweden brand has had in the UK since its foundation, explaining that “to launch a collaboration with Mulberry, a brand firmly embedded in British fashion history, feels like a naturally intuitive partnership to roll out.”
From ready-to-wear to bags, to footwear and accessories, you can choose among 35 unisex pieces. Each item rises from the dialogue between Axel Arigato’s effortless Scandinavian minimalism and Mulberry’s timeless British aesthetic. As Axel Arigato co-founder Max Svärdh specified, the aim of this collaboration is “to bring the youthful, percussive energy which informs [Axel Arigato’s] design language by reinterpreting Mulberry’s heritage silhouettes through a unique Scandinavian lens.”
The eye-catching pieces you won’t be able to resist are definitely the three capsule leather bags. All of them inspired by Mulberry archival designs, there is one for any occasion, with a selection of bold colors–vibrant emerald green, bright azure blue, or monochrome and classic black–available for each. The Tote Bag plays with dimensions and elements of excess, and it is the largest version of Mulberry’s iconic Oversized Bayswater. The Top Handle bag is a re-elaboration of Mulberry’s Maddison silhouette into a versatile, multi-wear shape, while the Shoulder bag embraces the timeless Mulberry’s Westbourne and becomes a contemporary and unapologetic evening bag.
The capsule started as an opportunity to reflect on Mulberry’s role in British fashion history and to revisit some of the most memorable moments from the past 50 years. “Through Axel Arigato’s innovative and contemporary approach, iconic elements of our Mulberry DNA and archive have been reinterpreted on a collection with sustainability at its core,” Mulberry CEO Thierry Andretta revealed. What has resurfaced from this deep dive into Mulberry’s heritage is a selection of sophisticated, yet fashion-forward, pieces that would shine in every closet. There are refined split-color trenches and casual varsity jackets, relaxed-fit denim with exclusive embroidery on the knees and back pockets, and a reinterpretation of Axel Arigato’s Area sneakers, too. Originally inspired by vintage basketball references, the Area sneakers feature Mulberry’s gold plated lock and custom strap.
The collection complies with both Mulberry and Axel Arigato’s sustainable approaches and uses environmentally-friendly materials. The capsule is available for purchase on the brands’ websites and in their stores worldwide.
