Backstage at Thom Browne Spring/Summer 2020

Inside the American designer’s theatrical runway production.

Thom Browne put his theatrical abilities to work with a fantastical runway production to unveil his playfully alluring Spring/Summer 2020 collection at Paris Fashion Week last Friday. Held at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, the fanciful exhibition was nothing short of surreal. Among flowers of seersucker cotton and a fountain constructed of cloth, models with towering heads of hair and precisely powdered faces gracefully descended the runway in classic Thom Browne manner. Across his whimsical range, exposed hoop skirts compliment pastel blazers, while billowing gowns contrast button-up ensembles completed with flowing ties. The American designer expanded his accessory offerings as well, drawing eyes to gorgeous veils that elegantly draped over models’ heads and stealing attention with updated silhouettes of dolphins and seahorses to his signature Hector dachshund bag. Head backstage to explore some behind-the-scenes moments in the slideshow below.
