Luxury fashion house Balenciaga presented their 52nd haute couture collection for Paris Couture Week. Held in their salons at 10 Avenue George V, the show was star-studded with Cardi B and Offset in the front row.

In what the Spanish fashion house calls a “tribute to pursuing perfection”, the newest Balenciaga collection leans into the architectural design of garments. Many of the items are constructed with sharp shoulders, rounded hips, and sloping necklines. As part of his third collection with the brand, creative director Demna combines nostalgia with innovation. The 52nd couture show features the return of one of Cristobal Balenciaga’s model muses, Danielle Slavik walking the runway to AI-altered Maria Callas operas.

Despite being a Spanish brand, Demna appears to have taken some inspiration from British cultural staples in this new collection with one look featuring a houndstooth single-breasted jacket and another look showcasing a “Prince of Wales” double-breasted suit. However, the true standout was the Joan of Arc-esque armored dress that closed the show.

Highlights from the show include sunglasses that will be included in the haute couture collection for the first time ever. One of the lenses titled Regata are black frames die cast in 18k gold and the other, which is part of the HRH line, gives a sporty wrap-around style still in 18k gold. Additionally, Demna also introduced a never before done feature during this collection. For the first time, the brand has created a webpage for customers to purchase items featured in the show and store exclusives so that they can be custom fitted during an in-store appointment.
