As if things couldn’t get any more meta, the hottest new flex can’t be worn in real life—introducing virtual luxury sneakers. Balenciaga, the Spanish fashion house, is taking its iconic pieces to new realms, introducing the iconic Triple S.2 Kicks to the viral shooter-survival game, Fortnite.

Now, sneakerheads and gamers alike can share common ground—and step into each other’s shoes. The Triple S.2 sneakers are a new iteration of the infamous Triple S sneakers, a relic of Georgian designer Demna’s Balenciaga era. Newly appointed and ready to reestablish its codes, Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli remade the silhouette late last year. The new sneaker, now available as digital wear in Fortnite, features a classic Triple-S chunky sole, pre-distressed tread, stretch laces, and a colorful blue-and-yellow palette.

This isn’t the first time Balenciaga has hit the Fortnite Item Shop, however. The unconventional crossover first ignited in 2021 with the release of the “Fit” collection, a line of in-game Balenciaga skins and coinciding IRL pieces. The two brands, in vastly different industries, showed considerable audience overlap, with some pieces selling out within hours. Though the partnership began when Demna was at the reins at Balenciaga, it’s clear that the relationship still remains under Piccioli’s new leadership.
