Balenciaga is taking steps into the outdoor footwear market with the launch of its new Hike Sneaker, inspired by the look of technical hiking shoes, this new design fuses rugged functionality with the house’s famous experimental aesthetic, offering a high fashion take on outdoor performance gear.
The Hike Sneaker has a rugged, layered midsole and outsole with a prominent cleat like sole for all-terrain traction and comfort. The sneakers new slip-on design was created with adjustable pull-cord fastenings at both the front and back of the shoe and the lightweight texture and performance mesh ensure breathability.
As luxury brands like Gucci and Loro Pianaget get into functional outdoor-inspired fashion to align with evolving lifestyles, Balenciaga’s new launch is both timely and on-brand. The Hike Sneaker joins other attention-grabbing models like the Circuit, Reptile, and oversized 6XL sneakers, cementing the house’s reputation for experimental footwear under Demna the labels creative director.
This launch comes off the heels of Balenciaga’s five-toed Anatomic Runner and the teased Zero Shoe from its Fall 2025 collection, further showing the house’s efforts to break into high performance footwear.
The Balenciaga Hike Sneaker retails for $1,275 and is now available in three colorways: red/black, beige/orange, and all-black.
