Balenciaga Pre-Fall 2021 Show

A collection with a diverse set of looks for the casual lovers and formal, extreme looks

Balenciaga’s Pre-Fall 2021 collection presents looks for just about anyone. The diverse set of looks creative director Demna Gvasalia has made for the collection can be worn casually, formally, and artistically.

There are several shirts and hoodies in the collection with the word “GAY” simply written on the front of them. One looks is an oversized light pink hoodie and matching oversized jacket with “GAY” written on it, oversized jeans, and finger toe shoes as the model stands before a green screen of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Each look is actually in front of a green screen that shows a different tourist destination. While another presents a Hulk T-shirt over a long-sleeve black sweater, an over-sized black bag, combat boots, and a cap.

Then there are more extreme ensembles, such as a massive black and white ostrich feather jacket dress paired with blue buckled past-the-calf heels. Another look is a beige trench-coat-like dress with puffed shoulders, scarf, and belt along with a massive bag and green boots.

Balenciaga also released a video, most likely for the collection, titled “Feel Good Video.” It is a little over three minutes of scenes of a beach, mountains, horses running in fields, skydivers, surfers, skiers, aura Borealis, sheets drying in the wind, cartoon flowers growing, dolphins and jellyfish, gazelles and cats, dominos falling, people running through a field to watch a sunset as a voice recalls a beautiful sunset, friends hanging out, brothers playing together, lovers, flash dancing, kids dancing in school, scenes of people cheering out of their apartments honoring medical professionals, then ends with a large crowd releasing sky lanterns. While the video has nothing to do with fashion, it is calming and clearly meant to make viewers feel good.
