Balmain Collaborate With PUMA And Cara Delevingne
Balmain have collaborated with PUMA and Cara Delevingne taking sports-luxe to a whole new level.
Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing has teamed up with Cara Delevingne on a new sports line for PUMA. The limited-edition capsule collection took direct inspiration from boxing, one of Rousteing’s favorite ways to keep fit. The capsule collection features a range of key pieces; sports bras, windbreakers, shorts, tanks, hoodies, distressed tees, and sneakers. A subdued color palette with flashes of gold elevates the line. It’s athleisure but through a Balmain filter.
Rousteing’s Balmain Aesthetic is all about empowering women and for this special project Rousteing recruited model/actress and BFF, Cara Delevingne. “I’ve known Cara for a number of years, and she’s not someone who will just lend her name to something. She gives 300 percent. And given our shared love of boxing, the inspiration was easy,” said the designer.
Speaking on the project, Delevingne commented, “PUMA has always represented teamwork and empowerment so the idea of doing a partnership with Olivier seemed very fitting. Balmain has a similar brave fierceness to their brand as PUMA does and it really excited me to think of what we could all do together. I’m really proud of what this collaboration has resulted in.” Delevingne then went on to explain that the collection is “100% how I dress—the tanks, the tees: super-comfortable, great for travel! I already stole some pieces.”
Continuing with the boxing theme the ad campaign features a collective of dancers, artists, activists, refugees, survivors, who all are fighting for a cause. “We have 10 characters in the campaign, and all of them have something important to say to the world. That is also why we wanted to create a kind of fight—because we need to fight for freedom, and to be who we want to be.” Said Rousteing. “Everyone involved—PUMA, Balmain, Cara and me—was determined to create something timeless. Above all, we knew that our message needed to be a strong one, reflecting exactly who we are and what we believe in.”
The PUMA x Balmain x Cara Delevingne collection will launch on November 21, in stores and online.
