Balmain Enters the Upside Down
Check out the limited edition Balmain x Stranger Things collection.

Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing is just like us normal people. That is, he binges entire seasons of Stranger Things the day they drop. But, while we everyday audiences may leave with a craving for Eggos, Rousteing left his viewing with a creative impetus. Those early ‘80s aesthetics, with lit neon signs and mega-malls, are ripe with inspiration. From screen to garment, the Balmain x Stranger Things collection was born. Dropping November 6th, the new collection is sure to excite those wannabe Hawkins residents.

The collection itself features that ‘80s aesthetic pattern on full display, mimicking those classic jazzercise videos. Bright colors flurry throughout the collection, with an almost tie-dyed colormixing adorning several of the garments. Also a staple of the period, ‘80s denim can be found throughout the collection’s offerings. Plus, a specialty Balmain x Stranger Things logo for you to show off.
The collection is not just clothes, though. Consider Balmain’s footwear offering, a B-court sneaker adapted to fit that classic Stranger Things look. Or try a Balmain phone case, shaped like those classic cassette tapes that you probably haven’t laid eyes on for a couple of decades. There are so many ’80s-inspired luxury items to get your hands on.

For those who spent this summer with “Running Up That Hill” on loop, the Balmain x Stranger Things collaboration is meant for you. The molding of luxury fashion with the common culture is a rare occurrence. So often, designers want to keep their work above the mass, harkening upon some distant inspiration that seems unreachable. The Balmain x Stranger Things collection offers the rare opportunity to score a designer item grounded in our lived experiences, the things that we love. And who doesn’t love Stranger Things?
