Balmain Fall/Winter 2020

The French luxury fashion house is all about diversity.

Balmain revolutioned the new bourgeoisie through the visions of creative director Olivier Rousteing. Growing up an orphan from Bordeaux, Rousteing drew inspirations from the provincial city of southwestern France for the French fashion house’s Fall/Winter 2020 collection. As a tribute to his Somali and Ethiopian heritage, the creative director adorned traditional styles with the influences of his ethnic origins.

The ensembles exude elegance and refinement, featuring African-style capes suspended over seductive gowns with cinched waists and high-rise slits. From sequins to billowed ruffles, as well as bejeweled scorpion accessories, the Balmain collection was a spectacle of luxurious, diverse designs this season.
