Olivier Rousteing reaffirmed his solid presence at Balmain, showing his Spring/Summer 2026 collection at the Grand Hotel, the same location he held his first Balmain défilé over 14 years ago. Rousteing’s SS26 collection, titled ‘Continuum’, is a declaration to the uninterrupted thread woven throughout his time with the brand. As a reflection of Rousteing’s growth and his dedication to staying true to his personal aesthetic and Pierre Balmain’s legacy, ‘Continuum’ embraces change with continuity.

Rousteing returns to his childhood, recalling the endless horizons of the beaches he played on as a child and the seashells he collected, dreaming they were clothing. The pure joy and lightness of these memories, along with the innocent vision of beauty he held as a child, moved Rousteing to use elements of the beach as inspiration for his collection.

The collection’s color palette takes from the various features of the seaside: warm hues of sand, driftwood, and coral balance the earth tones of the desert. Feminine fabrics move through the air in light and fluid motion, swaying drapery and pleats. Satin, georgette, suede, muslin, crêpe, linen, and Nappa leather are used throughout the looks.

Pieces that have once been deconstructed are reconstructed again with trench coats resembling capes, towels styled as whimsical tunics, and sleeves transforming into bolero cardigans. Bomber jackets are uncovered from vintage trunks and pants take on parachute, cocooned, and sarouel shapes. Wood bead necklaces envelop models as tops and dresses.

Crochet, tassels, fringe, and shells appliquéd onto dresses and accessories complete the looks, and bags, such as the signature Sync and Ébène, are adorned with charms reminiscent of treasures found in the sand.
