What does it mean to evolve? Balmain's creative director Olivier Rousteing challenges the idea of change altogether with the collection he revealed at the brand's Fall 2018 show during Paris Fashion Week. For example, the broad shoulders and cinched waists are a staple of any Balmain collection, but the big shoulders in this line feature an added layer of ruffles. Textural pieces were added to the iconic bandage dress concept. And as always, the structured jacket took on many different forms, from leather to denim to quilted and back.

The line stunned with its simple frivolity, and an equally light-hearted color palette kept it interesting. Iridescent scales make a couple of appearances throughout in the form of t-shirts and dresses. Chrome details line the collars of jackets. But black is the anchor that keeps the vivid pops of color from becoming overwhelming. Scroll through the images to get a taste of Balmain's fall ready-to-wear collection.
