For Chanel’s Métiers d’art 2026, Mathieu Blazy chose a New York City icon as a backdrop. On Tuesday, models descended the subway stairs and hopped off and aboard a subway car revealing—what is for most New Yorkers— a shared experience. The iconic house referred to it as “a love story between Chanel and New York,” and a variety of looks embodied the different experiences of today’s evolving Chanel woman.
Like his debut show in October, Blazy continued bringing Chanel into modernity with Métiers d’art 2026. The collection revealed Blazy’s inspired takes on tweed and reinventions of the little black dress. There was a throughline of references to the animal kingdom—through both print choices and bag designs. Aside from classic eveningwear, most of the looks conveyed freshness and wearability while maintaining the luxurious codes embedded in the Maison.
But the underground backdrop provided a sort of “pre-show” with celebrity guests entering via the subway stairwell. Jacques Burga captured the magic of their arrivals on Tuesday evening.
