The Pirelli Calendar has taken a turn towards narrative-building in recent years. Notoriously known as fashion’s sexiest calendar, the 2020 calendar is stripping it back, focusing on “beauty and love.” Shot by photographer Paolo Roversi, this year’s calendar is titled ‘Looking for Juliet’, a collection of images from various actresses and singers depicted as Juliet.

Aside from beautiful, the all-female cast is multicultural and multinational. It includes Claire Foy, Mia Goth, Emma Watson, Indya Moore, Yara Shahidi, Kristen Stewart, Chris Lee, Rosalia, and Stella Roversi. Each of the photo sets takes its cue from the Shakespearean drama and the intersection of love, strength, youth, and beauty embodied by its female protagonist. Each artist displayed their interpretations of Juliet, whether it be through acting or singing, in an individualized casting session. It was through this search that Roversi found his subjects. Roversi says of his calendar, “I am still searching for my Juliet and I will be searching all my life. Because Juliet is a dream.”
