Beyoncé Is Dropping a New Album

After a 6-year break, the global icon is stepping back into the music scene with her seventh solo album.

Since 2016, people across the world have been patiently waiting for Beyoncé to drop a new album. Now, it’s finally here. Fans suspected that the musician had something in the works when all of her social media profile pictures went blank on June 15, 2022. Beygood, Beyoncé’s nonprofit, confirmed the Beyhive’s suspicions by sharing an image of a montage of album covers. Amongst the collection of images, one square revealed a red glove pointing to Brandy’s B7. Beyoncé confirmed today that her seventh album, or B7, is coming on July 29.

Since Lemonade, Beyoncé has worked with Jay-Z on his 2018 album EVERYTHING IS LOVE. A year later she released Homecoming, a live album and concert film that showed her preparation for performing at Coachella. She wooed fans as Nala in Disney’s updated The Lion King and produced the companion compilation The Lion King: The Gift. Her latest work is her visual album Black Is King, which made its debut in 2020.

Not much is known about Renaissance. In her announcement, Beyoncé refers to it as “act i.” Does this mean there’s more to come? We can only speculate as of now, but it does leave room for wishful thinking. Edward Enninful, the editor-in-chief of British Vogue gives fans a better look at the album in a new article. Dropping shortly after the album announcement, Enninful shares his experience listening to the anticipated piece. He writes “It’s music I love to my core. Music that makes you rise, that turns your mind to cultures and subcultures, to our people past and present, music that will unite so many on the dance floor, music that touches your soul. As ever with Beyoncé, it is all about the intent. I sit back, after the wave, absorbing it all.”

Fans can preorder an exclusive box set for the album on Beyoncé’s website. Coming in four different variations, the box set includes a t-shirt, CD, and collectible box. No album artwork has been released, so the images of each set are blank. The box will include a mini-poster and a 28-page booklet.

After years of waiting, Beyoncé is finally back. As the countdown to July 29 begins, it’s time to put Lemonade on repeat to get even more excited for what’s to come.
