Beyoncé Releases an Official Music Video for Spirit

The video was released in tandem with the cover art and track listing for “The Lion King: The Gift”.

Beyoncé, who has taken the role of Nala in The Lion King, has not only contributed to the remakes within the new official soundtrack, but has gone above and beyond with her own compilation album, The Lion King: The Gift. This album, which she calls “a love letter to Africa,” contains the song ‘Spirit’, which has just been released as an official music video.

The official music video for ‘Spirit’, a leading single on this album, was shot in the Havasu Falls in the Grand Canyon. Queen Bey and her backup dancers wore striking outfits in bold colors, dazzling against the serenity of the vast emptiness of the desert setting. A cameo from Blue Ivy was just an added plus to the music video, but let’s be honest, she took center stage.

Beyoncé called her collaborative album a “sonic cinema”, which she went on to explain in a statement. “This is a new experience of storytelling. I wanted to do more than find a collection of songs that were inspired by the film. It is a mixture of genres and collaboration that isn’t one sound. It is influenced by everything from R&B, pop, hip-hop and Afro Beat,” said Beyoncé.

Queen Bey has wowed us again, with her natural beauty, powerful voice, and creativity.
