BGYO Releases Newest Single “Magnet”
The Filipino boy band has released their first track off their second studio album
Filipino boy band BGYO has released the first single “Magnet” off of their forthcoming sophomore studio album. The fresh boy band made their debut in 2021 with their first album The Light, which has become one of the best selling albums in the Philippines. The group has already found success in the start of their career, charting #1 twice as Billboard’s Next Big Sound as well as being selected twice as MTV Asia’s Artist of the Month. Through their early success and growing pop catalog, BGYO has become passionate in their mission to bring P-pop into mainstream culture around the world.
BGYO is a group of five members from around the world whose charm lies in their range of backstories. Member Akira Morishita was on a steadfast journey to become an actor, never expecting to land in a boyband, whereas JL Toreliza had been entering singing competitions during his childhood.
“Magnet” is a punchy pop song, showing off suave vocals which are backed by strong synths. The dance-pop track is a catchy song that handles a never-ending love, featuring a blend of funky guitar chords and techno club beats—drawing inspiration from 90’s boy bands and modernizing their sound to create smooth dancefloor bangers.
“‘Magnet’ talks about a love that always comes back,” BGYO shares about the song. “It’s a magnetic connection that’s hard to resist or control. The song’s playfulness resembles the mystery and excitement when we fall for someone. It talks about fate and how if you are meant to be together, love will always find its way back, just like a magnet.”
