“No one has shot a concert film on this scale before,” says Director James Cameron in the trailer for Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D). The film will be released in March and was captured during Billie Eilish’s sold-out world tour. Known for blockbuster films like TitanicAvatar and Aliens, the Academy-Award winning director has ventured into concert filmmaking with the upcoming release. Footage delivers big onstage performances as well as vulnerable backstage moments. This immersive 3D experience looks like it could open a new avenue for concert-goers—or those desiring to attend. “We’re using tech that’s never been used before,” Cameron says in the film’s trailer.

Cameron isn’t the only Academy Award winner in the duo. In 2024, Eilish became the youngest two-time Oscar winner garnering best original song for “What Was I Made For?” from Barbie. Eilish accepted the award with her brother, Finneas O’Connell, who she worked with on “No Time to Die”, which won best original song in 2021 in the James Bond film of the same name.

Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D) opens in theaters March 20.
