Billie Eilish Goes Number One with Bad Guy

It’s a big day for Billie.

Our V121 cover star has had a momentous day. Hours after the announcement of her 20th anniversary V cover, Billie Eilish has nabbed the number one slot for her single “Bad Guy.” She’s dethroned the record-breaking “Old Town Road,” which had dominated the charts for 19 straight weeks. Both Eilish and Lil Nas X are rising stars of Generation Z, proving that zoomers do it better. Congratulations, Billie! You deserve it.

The top slot has been a long time coming, as “Bad Guy” has sat at number two for nine weeks now, a Billboard record. The song also marks the first time an “alternative” genre song has headed the Billboard charts since Lorde‘s “Royals” (another breakout track from a teen sensation, as Lorde was 16 when it first hit airwaves). Eilish is currently the youngest artist to top the Hot 100, having been born in 2001.

“Bad Guy” is the top single for Eilish’s debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? Here’s to many more number ones in the promising young artist’s career! This is only the beginning, Billie.
