From breaking Guinness World Records left and right, to sitting front row at the hottest runway shows, BLACKPINK is an international force to be reckoned with. In preparation for a new era ahead, K-pop’s favorite girl group unveiled a music video for the newly released EDM-adjacent track, “Ready for Love” on July 29. The bubbly and upbeat track is infectious with Blackpink hallmarks; strong vocal melodies, charismatic rap, and a dynamic, beat-drop chorus. 

The effervescent pop track arrives as a special collaboration with battle royale video game PUBG Mobile, as well as a visually stunning music video. We see the girls’ avatars exploring a mysterious, yet fantastical universe. Jisoo sprints across a frozen lake while Rosé is avoiding vines as she makes her way through a dark forest. Jennie is met with a battle against a lightning storm, and Lisa finds herself attempting to ride a dirt bike through a wasteland.

Released as an animated music video, “Ready for Love” marks the K-pop powerhouse’s first Korean release since The Album (2020). Blinks are more than ecstatic for new music of course, but rumors of a new era are even more enticing. The performance powerhouse is supposedly in the final stages of recording a new album, as well as in the process of releasing new music sometime in August.

“On top of new music and large-scale projects, BLACKPINK will also go on the largest world tour in the history of a K-pop girl group by the end of the year to expand their rapport with fans worldwide,” states YG Entertainment, the group’s label.
