Bottega Veneta Announces Matthieu Blazy As Newest Creative Director

The Italian fashion house appoints Matthieu Blazy as Creative Director after the departure of Daniel Lee.

After the sudden departure of Daniel Lee from Bottega Veneta, the industry has since been wondering who the fashion house will appoint as their next creative director. Less than a week later, Bottega announced that Matthieu Blazy will be promoted to the position.

The La Cambre graduate isn’t unknown to fashion. Early in his career, Blazy made a name for himself as the men’s designer for Raf Simons, before joining Maison Martin Margiela to design their ‘Artisanal’ line and Women’s RTW show. Soon later, he became Senior Designer at Céline, then eventually reunited with Raf Simons at Calvin Klein from 2016 to 2019. It wasn’t until 2020 that Blazy joined Bottega as their RTW Design Director.

In Bottega’s announcement, Leo Rongone, CEO of Bottega Veneta, stated, “Matthieu Blazy is an extraordinarily talented individual, whom I am proud and excited to entrust with the creative helm of our luxury House. Bottega Veneta has always been equated with signature craftsmanship and distinctive creativity. Matthieu’s appointment will further enhance the modern relevance of our brand and accelerate our growth, while preserving the values that are at the core of Bottega Veneta.”

Blazy will present his first collection for Bottega in February 2022.
