Bottega Veneta Takes Its Latest Threads to the Celestial City

Who says Bottega’s done with the Fall/Winter 2023 season? The Italian fashion house takes it East to Beijing with a sequel to its latest collection.

An encore of sorts is ensuing at Bottega Veneta. Following its presentation at Milan Fashion Week, the Italian fashion house hits replay with a presentation of its Fall/Winter 2023 collection scheduled once again—this time in Beijing. A repeat presentation may sound a little redundant, right?

Here’s where the Italian fashion house kicks things up a notch. Remixing its threads to the tempo of Beijing, Matthieu Blazy and his team introduce new looks created for the Celestial City to the collection.

Why Beijing, you ask?

The fashion show set in the nation’s capital is just the latest installment in the house’s layered strategy to expand into the Chinese market. Recent approaches have spanned from Lunar New Year celebrations to a Year of the Rabbit capsule collection, including a short film centered on the value of time. The house even hosted a takeover of the Great Wall of China, where its Parakeet Green flooded the passageway of the larger-than-life monument.

Campaigns and decadent events IRL are not the only tricks Bottega Veneta has up its sleeve to increase its presence in China. Under Blazy’s predecessor, Daniel Lee’s tenure, Bottega Veneta silently exited its social media platforms, including Instagram, Twitter, and several others. Most relevant to its presence in the Chinese market is its departure from Weibo. After a lofty two years of absence from the Chinese social media platform, Bottega Veneta returns to its domain, hoping to increase its presence in The Middle Kingdom’s luxury market.

That’s not all.

What could be more buzzworthy than K-pop brand ambassadors in today’s age? Following this philosophy, the fashion house invited South Korean boy band BTS’ Kim Namjoon, better known as RM. While nothing is official, rumors have proliferated in the realm of social media of RM’s potential ascension to the role of global brand ambassador.

It seems Blazy and the team behind the powerhouse has kept busy. Mark your calendars; Bottega Veneta’s highly anticipated Beijing-bound show will take off on July 20th.
