“Bridgerton” Introduces Four New Cast Members to the Ton

The show’s second season will be featuring a crop of new characters

The London Ton for the second season of “Bridgerton” is shaping up to be quite full. Netflix officially announced the addition of four new cast members for the show’s upcoming season, all of whom are poised to play pivotal roles in the story.

Charithra Chandran will join as Edwina Sharma, the younger sister of the previously revealed Kate Sharma, who has entered the Ton as a new debutante, on the lookout for the perfect love match. Shelley Conn, an established English actress who also starred in Steven Spielberg’s short-lived “Terra Nova,” will play Mary Sharma, Kate and Edwina’s mother, returning to London society after a marriage-related scandal.

Also joining them are Calam Lynch, who “Derry Girls” fans might recognize, and Rupert Young, of BBC series “Merlin” fame. Lynch will play Theo Sharpe, a printer’s assistant on the path for justice and rights, while Young will play Jack, a character we don’t know much about but who is related to one of the series’ most notable families. Both characters are not known from the original book series, so it’ll be interesting to see how they add to the cast.

The news of the arrival of new cast members comes days after the departure of Regé-Jean Page from the show. The show’s second season will center around Jonathan Bailey’s Lord Anthony and his courtship with Kate Sharma, played by Simone Ashley, an adaptation of Kate Sheffield from the books. The show’s second season is currently in its production phase.
