Brooke Candy Is Her Own “VIP”

A look behind the scenes of the provocateur’s new era

Brooke Candy has never needed a guest list. On “VIP,” out today, she builds the room, hangs the velvet rope, and installs herself behind it. And true to form, she has her own translation of the acronym—one that keeps the V and the I and reassigns the P to something considerably less polite, and very much on brand.

The track is the first single from Candy’s forthcoming album, arriving via ONErpm and opening a new era: two records nearly finished, made in the wake of a divorce and every bit as unbothered as that sounds.

But Candy’s real medium has always been the visual. Directed by Bauti Botto “Boludo,” “VIP” is built shot by shot like a series of covers—saturated, precise, each frame engineered to soak itself into your mind.

“VIP” is now streaming everywhere, and you can watch the video and see BTS, below.
