On November 28, 2021, the world was struck with the harrowing news that beloved designer Virgil Abloh passed away. After a long fight with cancer, Abloh left the world with new hope for the future of fashion.

As a tribute to the late designer, the Brooklyn Museum has announced an upcoming exhibition dedicated to Abloh. In collaboration with curators Antwaun Sargent and Michael Darling, the museum is expanding upon a previous Abloh exhibition. “Virgil Abloh: ‘Figures of Speech’” looks at Abloh’s brilliance through the lenses of fashion, art, music and architecture. In an Instagram post, the Brooklyn Museum states the new section is a “traveling survey of Virgil’s trailblazing and expansive creative practice.”

As of now, the exhibition will open on July 1 of this year and will continue into 2023.  The Brooklyn Museum ended their announcement, stating “Virgil’s dedication to his artistry provided new opportunities and equitable pathways in art and design.”
