Brunch Electronik Festival, creative directed by Martin Petrik, partnered with Girona Sweetheart and Michelin Chef, Jordi Roca to reveal the lineup in a very cutesy, Willy Wonka-esque way.
Here are some pics I took of the affair!

Upon entering the space, there was this huge egg timer. It really cracked me up…. Faceless hands poked out from draped curtains serving beverages while the clock counted down. I accidentally had 3 of the specialty cocktail. It was a chocolate martini with a red sugar-coated rim topped with a toasted marshmallow. I’m usually terrified to see if someone can pull off a basic espresso martini so I was pleasantly surprised when this was actually tasty.

I caught a few minutes with YuSu, a chef herself and DJ for the evening, before the big reveal to soak up the last bits of sun outside. She apparently had new music dropping at the same time as her set ended, which was insane to me given her very chill demeanor… I’m now a big fan and ready to go to London so I can attend one of her food + music events, Polyphonic Eating. I asked her to pair a music genre to a condiment: “Acid House = Vinegar” (2 of my favs! Hehe).

When the timer ran out, the curtains were drawn to reveal this hilly structure decorated in tiny mushrooms, flowers and silly items. A track of dishes piled with candies surrounded the whole thing. Jordi Roca popped up from the center welcoming us.
A moment in the mind of Jordi Roca:
What inspired the selection of treats for this event?
I wanted to bring the world of sweets into a more playful, festive territory—almost psychedelic. Brunch Electronik has a very special collective energy, so I thought about sweets that were direct, emotional, and easy to share. The hearts were made with chocolate, fruits, and spices. There were three types: dark chocolate with raspberry and rose, milk chocolate with bergamot, and white chocolate with pink pepper. They’re a simple way of saying, This is about love, music, and community.
There were lots of mushrooms in the display — are there any plans for “special” chocolates from you?
I like mushrooms because they have something magical about them—something of the forest, of mystery. In the kitchen I’m genuinely interested in this natural, almost landscape-like imagination. I don’t know if we’ll make “special” chocolates, but definitely chocolates that awaken the senses and make you travel a little—maybe geographically, to the origin of the cacao, or back to the memory of your childhood.
When was the first time you attended Brunch Electronik? Tell me about the most blissed-out moment you had.
I remember the first time as a kind of revelation: people of all ages dancing in daylight with such positive energy. The most magical moment is when the beat aligns with the atmosphere, when the sun is going down, and you feel that everyone is connected in the same rhythm.
Who are you looking forward to seeing play this year?
I’m always excited to discover artists I don’t know yet, but especially Jeff Mills. He’s the guru, the father, the prophet.
We heard that you are getting into DJing. Can you describe and compare the different flow states of being in the kitchen and DJing?
They’re surprisingly similar. In the kitchen you enter a state of total concentration where time disappears and everything becomes gesture, intuition, and sensitivity. DJing is similar: you listen to the crowd, read the energy of the room, and build a sonic narrative. In both cases it’s about creating emotion—one with flavors, the other with beats.
Favorite house song? What dessert would it be compared to?
There are many house tracks with that hypnotic, sensual structure. I’d compare them to a great chocolate dessert: deep, persistent, with layers that reveal themselves slowly. A bit like a fondant that melts gently, contrasted with the cold touch of an ice cream.
